The pairing for that is a set of two Marshall Super Lead 100 aka "Plexi" full stacks which both guitarists used for their heavier sounds, especially with fuzz units and overdrive pedals, and both had a pair of 1960 Fender Twin Reverbs for clean tones as well. B.K Butler Tube Driver - posted in Guitar Q & A: So in the last month or two ive had an epiphany of my perfect toneand I ended up (in my head) with an Eric Johnson kind of toneso I did some surfing and trying out and I stumbled upon B.K. Guys like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Johnson, who actually used similar setups right down to the same pedals, used one amp for lead distortion work and another for clean. After that PPI decided to design those boards that you displayed. BK Butler states in their ad: Due to the continuing requests for my limited production original design Tube Driver pedal, here are the details: Im hand building only limited production numbers every week.

PPI aquired Phaze Audio, if I remember correctly in the beginning of 1998. Used BK Butler Tube Driver with bias mod conversion serial number 0510412. Laney amps have a nice natural tube distortion sound, the best tube driven sounds come from a Laney imo and with a Tube Driver, it would really give you a nice distortion tone. The original Tube Driver were designed completely by BK Butler of Butler Audio and were then produced by Phaze Audio. Randall and Laney tube amps sound good for clean stuff but the thing is that you want something that will also sound good with pedals, I don't know very many people who would put a distortion or overdrive pedal in front of a clean amp like a Fender Twin Reverb, you might bust your ear drums doing it. Besides, the BK Butler Tube Driver could be a good pedal to boost a Ram’s Head version of the Big Muff (like the Byoc Large Beaver) to make it sound.
